Evil People Are All the Same: "Then they will accuse you of doing all the evil things that they do so as to further confuse any outside observer about who is really doing wrong."

Isn't this a perfect picture of partisan politics today? All parties are trying desperately to rip the veneer off their opponents, while craftily trying to hide their own imperfections and failures. And, sad to say, religionists and anti religionists are following the same path.

Of course I agree... there are truly people in need... the poor are always with us and as Christians it is our duty to help them. We just have to be discerning about whether someone is in debt trouble due to bad habits or unavoidable circumstances like a health catastrophe.

Once again, Brett, thank you for your God-led insignt into our personal lives/feelings and your additional comments regarding the position on our ungodly and biased governmental in fixing our economy. The only thing I feel convinced of, however, is that God placed our leaders there for some purpose to bring about HIS will. I certainly can't figure out what he has in mind but certainly know He maintains complete control. Therefore, blindly and through my own challenged faith (thinking only on a human level) I work to remember His sovereignity and trust that He is working out His will in our world...still praying for our leadership.

Good stuff. I do have to defend some folks, though, who are in debt. We're not all irresponsible. :) Some of us have events such as seriously ill spouse or children, job loss, surgery, or injury...things that are beyond our control. That's where federal bankruptcy law comes into play, and it's a good law to have for those who truly need it (Coming from a former paralegal...I've seen some sad stuff). I think some forms of aid are necessary (what kind of America would let a kid starve?) but I agree wholeheartedly that the general public should NOT be forced to pay others' (specifically credit card) bills regardless of the situation. For the record, those "government debt settlement" ads are a scam anyway. It's just a private company trying to make a buck by claiming they have "inside connections" and pretending to negotiate with your creditors. I've seen it happen to dozens of my clients. Those companies are not valid and those ads drive me nuts!

Thanks, Brent -

That's good advice - just take the next step. Sometimes I get so discouraged by my own failings spiritually - I feel like I'm not going forward, not growing, but a failure. Wasting time. Taking up space. That I'm such a spiritual loser. But I can take the next step, with the Lord's help. Right now I think the next step is to read my Bible. Thanks.
