  For 20 years I’ve taken grief for saying that movies like Star Wars teach New Age religion; or Harry Potter teaches witchcraft. ‘Jedi’ religion most popular alternative faith I’ve been called every name in the book by both non-Christians (who think I’m a religious nut) and Christians (who think I’m overboard and over zealous).  Once a while, usually a decade later, and I take no pleasure, the “harvest” that was sown finally is reaped. While people claiming to be “Jedi Knights” may sound silly to you, keep in mind that the “Jedi” religion is nothing more than good old fashioned New Age Eastern Mysticism.   A reader asks: I have been married for three years to a man I dated off and on for almost 15 years. We have children ages two, four and 10. I have found inappropriate chat messages from another female to my husband. My husband said he wasn’t happy, especially with my weight gain. We just finished building a new house and moved into it.   As my regular readers know, I don’t do politics much on my blog… there are tons of other sites doing that full-time.  However, when the politics steps over into outright blasphemy, then its worth a mention. “One of the hottest selling items at the Democratic National Convention is a 2013 calendar titled “Keep the Dream” that features 16 flattering photos of the First Family and their dogs. In honor of the President’s birth month, a picture of Obama’s birth certificate was used for August.   Ever read the book of Hosea?  What does it have to do with America? Well, nothing in context specifically but the parallels of Hosea and Israel are strikingly similar to our national situation today in the United States. God used Hosea in many visually startling ways to demonstrate to Israel that they had abandoned God.  They jettisoned their Godly heritage in favor of their right to do whatever they wanted. Every man was determining what was “right for them” and doing it.  Sound familiar? They were enjoying unprecedented prosperity and as such, materialism was rampant. Sound familiar? As a result, Israel saw an exponential rise in adultery, sexual immorality, violence, social disintegration and political chaos. Sound familiar?   I'm knocking on 50 years old.  I remember when, generally speaking, successful businessmen were held up as role models and admired for their achievements. Look what the political game of class envy has done to us. Successful celebrities are worshipped. Successful athletes are applauded. Successful politicians are rewarded or at least left alone in the class envy war (unless they are genuinely conservative). Success is Great for Some and an Indictment for Others Businessmen are all painted as heartless, greedy and dishonest fatcats.
