• This But Not That

2 Corinthians 4:8-10 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. (NKJV) Life is hard. Even on the very best of days we are never far from understanding that life in general is difficult and complex. That doesn’t mean it’s not joyful. That doesn’t mean it’s not satisfying. At any given time there are usually several difficult aspects or circumstances in life.Have you ever wondered why God allows life to be this way? I mean He could simply snap His fingers and we can [...]

  • Secret Arrows: A Full Quiver – Part 5

(Click here to search for all the posts in this series…) Psalm 11:2 For look! The wicked bend their bow, They make ready their arrow on the string, That they may shoot secretly at the upright in heart. (NKJV) It is part of the human experience to be attacked by someone else. It is even more a part of Christianity to be persecuted further simply for loving Jesus. Our fleshly response is to be defensive or to retaliate. There are many different reasons why the attacks happen, either by unbelievers or fellow Christians. The mature Christian will learn to discern these motives and respond accordingly. Very often, the attacker is hurting, stressed, confused or misled. Now, that’s not to say that there aren’t times when the [...]

  • But I Will Remember

Psalm 77:10 – And I said, “This is my anguish; But I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High.” (NKJV)I love the Psalms. They speak of the entire human experience, from the darkest disappointments to the highest joys. Whatever emotion describes your life at this very moment, the Psalms most likely have some beautiful things to say about it.The 77th Psalm is twenty verses long, with the first ten verses describing great discouragement. The last ten verses describe how remembering what God has done will lift us from discouragement.I want to pair up a “negative” from the first 10 verses, with a positive thing to remember from the last ten to help you better recall the ideas. See if you [...]
